The official app of California State Parks Monterey District offers a comprehensive and educational experience for visitors and armchair travelers interested in exploring the diverse natural and cultural history of the Monterey area.

This app provides exclusive audio tours created by knowledgeable California State Parks Monterey District Interpreters, Rangers, and docents. These tours offer valuable insights and information about the various points of interest in the district's 23 park units, totaling over 100 sites.

In addition to the audio tours, this app also features basic park information, image galleries, historic photos, and audio transcriptions. Visitors can utilize GPS maps to navigate the area and easily locate nearby sites.

Some of the notable audio tours included in this app are Fort Ord Dunes State Park, Asilomar State Beach &amp; Conference Grounds, Big Sur Parks, Monterey State Historic Park, San Juan Bautista State Historic Park, and Point Lobos State Natural Reserve.

California State Parks boasts an impressive collection of 280 park units spread across 1.59 million acres. This makes it the state agency with the largest and most diverse natural and cultural heritage holdings in the entire nation. The parks within Monterey District preserve a wide range of environmentally and culturally sensitive structures, habitats, plant species, animal species, Native American sites, historic structures, and artifacts.

In addition to featuring the incredible parks highlighted in these mobile tours, Monterey District is also home to Henry Coe State Park - the largest park in Northern California. The district's coastal beaches stretch from Zmudowski State Beach to Monterey State Beach, encompassing 4 miles of shoreline at Fort Ord Dunes State Park. Visitors to Point Lobos State Natural Reserve can observe sea otters, migrating gray whales, and a variety of bird species. Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park offers scenic trails that showcase redwoods, a river, and a waterfall.

For those interested in history, several historic units are available for exploration, including Monterey State Historic Park, San Juan Bautista State Historic Park, and Point Sur State Historic Park. Additionally, visitors can appreciate Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds and learn about the influential architect Julia Morgan, who designed many of the site's Arts and Craft style buildings.
